The shows from the early 70′s bring back a lot of memories. I’ve watched the show religiously since it started. But please, you can’t keep showing the same few episodes on “The Best of Soultrain.” How about some episodes from the late 80′s and early 90′s??
it a network call bounce tv. it just starting showing in chicago ,il when i found out soul train was on there i goes to bed early because it aired on at 6:00pm ilove it.
We recently got BOUNCE network here in Kansas.
The 1980′s are on Soul Train now and what great memories!!
I always wished I could have been a Soul Train dancer.
Great website and great reading the dancers stories.
The era from the 60s to the 80s produced the BEST music!!!!
I totally agree with your position and I think that it would be really great to create some discussion questions about this topic. Anyway thanks a lot for sharing this valuable information. dentist in austin
i am a white dude (46) who remembers soul train long before mike jackson became a super star,,the osmonds ..etc.. long live the soul train and i wish someone had the balls to bring it back to us ((listenersnand viewers from long ago))……………………………………….peace
The Soul Train show that started in Chicago was a local program. It had not gone nationwide yet. So I doubt that any episodes were saved. Unless Don Cornelius has some master tapes from the Chicago local show, we’ll never see any of the shows.
Momentos marcantes, mesmo morando no Brasil, Soul Train sempre me fez viver algo inexplicável. Gosto dos shows dos anos 70. Sinto saudades dos velhos tempos.
I was born in 1970 and the 70′s was the shit and I remeber my parents and uncles and aunts dancing the way they did there I wish I could go back to those sweet days, Can you digg it?
Only those hours that I would have been born in the United States. Just to be able to attend the Soul Train. Unfortunately in Brazil did not have anything even close.
I saw Soul Train when it first aired, what such memories. I had to purchase the DVD Set from Time Life. This set covers years 1971-1979, and it also shows the commericals about Afro Sheet, Ultra Sheen. Seeing the Fashions and the Dancers and the dance moves, I use to do some of those dances. Thank You Don for the memories.
Love my Best of Soul Train box set but it’s extremely disappointing that the team putting this box set together did not take into consideration that Soul Train fans not only lived for the classic performances but the SOUL TRAIN LINE! I so looked forward to the Soul Train line in every show so I could see some of the crazy dance moves. The box set also has WAY TOO MANY Afro-Sheen and Ultra Sheen commericals. I mean c’mon…there’s a commercial behind almost every performance, which leads me to believe that they were put there as “fillers”. There are SO MANY classic performances that are not included, including the Whispers, which I was shocked about considering they did one the show’s theme songs. Finally, I was very disappointed that some of the shows were chopped. As an example, on the show that dedicated the full hour to James Brown, Lyn Collins’ performance was edited out and I also would’ve loved to see more episodes from the 80′s. I just hope that a VOLUME II is in the works and that these comments are taken into consideration.
I am interested in an episode which aired in Fall of 1971 the guests were Gladys Knight and the Pips. I was on this show with many of my high school friends from Compton High School. My friends and family would love to see me going down the line.
Thanks
Back when we had nothing on tv he gave us Soul Train and for that I thank you. For all the breaks you gave to many I thank you, there will never be another like you. RIP
Very saddened at the news of Mr. Cornelius’ death. Rest in peace and thank you for giving us soul in Seattle! I wish Centric TV would air Soul Train regularly again and feature more episodes. They seemed to show that same Classic episodes over and over.
hi,,,i’m from mexico born 1960 so my best years was the 70′s, every sunday to discoteques,,only sodas and dancing,,,like i said my best years and allways will love my 70′s & 80′s disco music,,,RIP Mr, Cornelius..
my friends, i would like to see to the group Change singing “A Lover´s Holiday” in Soul Train; they sang on the Show or not?? but i remember, i had to see for many years that Don Cornelius presented the song with the beautiful Dancer people!! i would like to see this video too please! somebody have this one??? thanks from Berlin! ;-)=
No one cany deny where they were every Saturday morning at 11:00 waiting for Soul Train to come on TV. Sometimes we had to complete our household chores during the show even dancing with the vacuum cleaner as we worked. However, when the Soul Train line came on everything came to a stop so we could learn the latest dance moves. Without a doubt these were some of the happiest times of my childhood growing up in the 70′s. There will never be another Soul Train. Thank You Don Cornelius for being such an inspiration, innovator and pioneer that provided the sound of music and funky fashion to a changing time. No one can deny your contributions and your memory will live on. In your prophetic words, “May you find love, peace and soul as you make your transition home. Peace and Blessings Always.
I grew up in the inner city of Kansas City and Soul Train was NEVER missed by me and my friends!
