’s Best End-of-Summer Jams of All Time

How is it really the end of August already? This summer was glorious! Sure, there were plenty of utterly hot, horribly sticky, sickeningly humid days, but then there were some lovely ones that make you really appreciate the world around us. And what else makes us appreciative? Really great music!

So as summer begins to wind down and we brace ourselves for the cooler temps and layered clothing choices of fall, let’s take a little time to reflect on the summer that was with these classic end-of-summer jams.

The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff“Summertime,” DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

OK, we’re certainly not shocking anyone with this pick, but that doesn’t diminish the effect that this song continues to have on us even more than 20 years after it was released. With its smooth beat, effortless rhymes and overall laid back vibe, it has a feel of late-day lounging and reminiscing. You’d be hard-pressed to find a tune more evocative of good summertime memories than this classic jam.

“Big Pimpin’, Jay-Z ft. UGK

There are few songs that fully embody summer ballin’ quite like “Big Pimpin’.” One of Hova’s most notable (and most mainstream) hits, the song is undeniably catchy, yet still has a nice, easy vibe to it. And if you’re looking for the perfect soundtrack for you final warm-weather blowout, particularly if you’re able to swing a white party on a boat, then I think you’ve got it with “Big Pimpin’.”

“What Chu’ Like,” Da Brat ft. Tyrese

Another incredible, yet notably underrated, summer party song. Who are we kidding? This one is definitely more for the ladies! Quite frankly anything that features Tyrese wailing will get us excited and in the mood to ditch our clothes and get down…to partying. While the case could certainly be made that this is a great summer anthem in general, we’d actually be Beyoncemore inclined to say that this one should be saved to the bitter end of the season to truly enjoy.

“Party,” Beyoncé

There’s no way that we would make it through a summer jams list without including Queen Bey. While there are a bunch of Beyoncé songs we could have chosen, there was one in particular that really stood out. Her chill anthem “Party” has a cool, yet sultry vibe that seems like the perfect soundtrack whether you’re kicking back with the fam during a backyard BBQ or looking to start up one last summer fling before the weather turns chilly.

What about Doug E. Fresh’s Summertime?
Everyone always sleeps on that one.
