Soulful duo Floetry reunited in 2015 after spending some time apart, much to the delight of their thousands of fans who have been waiting to see Marsha “The Songstress” Ambrosius and Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart’s undeniable chemistry on stage together once again. This move has us hoping some of our other favorite R&B groups might try reuniting for the fans.
SoulTrain.com compiled a list of the top 5 groups we’d love to see hit the stage one more time and give us one more incredible album!
At this year’s BET Awards, Diddy took it back to the peak of Bad Boy’s reign, bringing out everyone from Jadakiss to Faith Evans, and of course, the Queen Bee, Lil’ Kim. Noticeably absent, however, was popular ‘90s group Total, who gave Bad Boy hits like “Kissin’ You,” “Trippin’” and the Biggie-assisted smash, “Can’t You See.” We would have loved to see them reunite with the rest of the Bad Boy family, and would still be psyched to see Kima, Keisha and Pam back together again.
Atlanta reps Jagged Edge gave R&B some of its biggest hits in the late-‘90s and early 2000s with “I Gotta Be,” “Let’s Get Married,” “Where the Party At?,” and “Walked Outta Heaven.” They were just the right combination of street and sweet, no goodie two-shoes, but also not the stereotypical, reckless “bad boys.” They could make the kids dance, tear down a wedding and give you bedroom burners all on one album, and I wouldn’t mind the foursome giving me that feeling one more time.
Tony! Toni! Toné!
We all know that Raphael Saadiq has the cheat code to life. He’s created masterpieces for himself and others over his 20+ year career. While the solo work is amazing, it would be great to see him reunite with Ton! Toni! Toné! members Dwayne Wiggins and Timothy Christian Riley. Seeing as they’re all actually family, I’m sure conversation of a Tony! Toni! Toné! reunion has been tossed around at some point. Hopefully, they take it into consideration, because nothing beats the feeling you get when you hear “Anniversary” or “Let’s Get Down.” Take us back gentlemen, take us back.
If any popular group from the ‘90s took a bath in the fountain of youth, it would be Bay Area divas En Vogue. All four original members are still stunning and also still have the pipes to bring down the house. While Dawn’s relationship with Terry, Cindy and Maxine has been questionable over the past few years, fans would love it if they could put all issues aside and hit the road as a foursome one last time. C’mon ladies, give us something we can feel!
Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle all have successful solo careers, and have all been a part of each other’s lives since the release of their last group project, Destiny Fulfilled back in 2004. Eleven years later, the trio reunited for Michelle’s spiritual single “Say Yes,” feeding fans’ desire for a full-blown reunion. No group puts on a show like these ladies, and one more go-round would be a great way to please their most loyal fans while giving the kids a lesson in girl group 101. Let’s get this tour jumpin’ jumpin,’ ladies!
