Brian Angel: On the Rise

Imagine being hired for a special project. You’re specifically chosen to help architect what is to be one of the greatest buildings in recent memory. After that building is erected, it spends years at the top of the high rise until unforeseen forces bring it crumbling to the ground. That’s a feeling some of the members of R&B group Day26 felt a few months ago when the former Making The Band stars publicly broke up via Twitter. Former Day26 front man Brian Angel is no stranger to the unpredictable nature of the music business. takes a look into the Mr. Angel’s world.

August 26, 2007 was the day the world was introduced to Brian “Angel” Andrews as a member of the then unnamed R&B outfit Day26. Prior to impressing Diddy with his powerful tenor, Brian, as a part of the Houston, TX-based group Mason Rd., was signed to another legendary music executive: Matthew Knowles’ Music World Entertainment. It only made sense to the group. Knowles had unparalleled success with groups like Destiny’s Child and Trin-i-tee 5:7–as well as Beyoncé’s and Solange’s solo careers–and managing the career of soul singer Lyfe Jennings. Added to that, Knowles’ label was based in Brian’s home town of Houston, TX. It seemed like a match made in Heaven. Sadly, the situation did not work out with Music World, and after touring with several of the label’s roster and not recording any material Brian asked for his release in order to pursue a better venture.

After his release from Music World, Brian Angel eventually found his way to New York as a competitor on MTV’s Making The Band, vying for a spot in Diddy’s new R&B group. After five years of recording, releasing albums, touring, and winning fans over, the platinum-selling act disbanded in mid-2012. Never one to sit stagnant, Brian Angel began immediately working on his debut solo project Daybreak, scheduled to be released in late 2012 via his label Ambassador Way Entertainment. After years of working with some of the top executives in music, Brian Angel took a page from their books by starting his own company. His first single, “Killa” featuring Dourough Music, is gaining steam throughout the south and making its way to radio.

For Brian Angel, life isn’t about setbacks; it’s about setups for comeback. Armed with new management and a renewed energy for success, Brian is ready to take on the world yet again. Based on his track record, every time he comes back, he comes back stronger. This time should be no different.
