Must Haves: What Every Woman Should Have in Her Purse

A clutch. A hobo. A satchel. A tote. No matter what your fashionable carrier of choice may be, there are 10 items that no woman–no matter how much of a rush she may be in– should ever leave at home. Sure, you’ve got obvious items like car and house keys, cell phones and wallets, but what about more out of the box essentials? That’s where we come in, as brings you the ultimate guide to every woman’s handbag must-haves.

Lip gloss

Whether you bust out your favorite MAC stain or go a simpler route with a smear of petroleum jelly, no woman should be without her favorite lip gloss.  A dab of color will instantly brighten a make-up less face (and can act as a makeshift cheek stain or eye shadow), and this item also serves a more practical purpose. As winter approaches and cold weather takes its toll, you’ll certainly want to have a little extra lip protection.  Be sure to find a gloss with a hardy SPF.

Safety pins

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and sometimes a mini-wardrobe malfunction could have you scrambling for a little help. Whether you run into zipper troubles with your sleek new boots or need to tone down the cleavage of a too-sexy top, a carefully placed safety pin could be just the solution to your unexpected fashion woes.

Business cards

Even if you’re not in the market for a new gig, business cards can certainly come in handy. Whether you bump into an old acquaintance, a potential business connection or even that hottie from across the bar, handing out a business card rather than fumbling around with cell phones or slips of paper makes a much better impression.

Baby lotion

This may be another obvious choice, but no handbag essentials list would be complete without a moisturizer that can act as one of the best multipurpose beauty items a woman can fit into her Michael Kors. As we mentioned earlier, skin protection is essential during the winter months, and with fall rolling around, keeping those stray hairs tamed becomes just as important. A dab of lotion can go a long way in keeping hairs in place if the wind kicks up or you’re facing some serious hat hair challenges.

Disposable toothbrush

Mmm, dinner was fabulous! Especially that garlic-seasoned steak, glass of wine and that onion…OK, so great dinner, terrible on the breath. That’s where a small disposable toothbrush is an invaluable item to have at the ready. Duck into the nearest bathroom, whip out one of these little guys and wipe away any traces of a breath-assaulting meal.

Another must-have make-up item that no woman should leave home without: Mascara. Some will argue concealer is more important, or tossing in some powder should be a top priority, but a little added pop of the peepers is what can take your look up a notch.  Go the traditional route, opting for a jet black color rather than playing with other shades. No matter the occasion, a swipe of mascara can instantly make eyes look larger, brighter and far more beautiful.

Disposable slippers

Ladies, I don’t care what you have to do to make these suckers fit, but you’ll thank me later if you include disposable slippers as part of your handbag repertoire. If you’re anything like me, then rocking a smokin’ set of heels is par for the course during an outing with friends. But as amazing as those spiked stilettos look, they can wreak havoc on your feet. That’s where these life-savers come in. In the cab or on the train, kick off the high heels and strap on something a little more on the comfy side.

Pair of earrings

Catch yourself lacking a little in the accessories department? Keeping a favorite pair of earrings handy is never a bad idea. We tend to favor some classic hoops (a style that can be easily dressed up or down), but cute danglers or colorful studs can have an equally fashionable effect.

Rain + new do = no good. Trust me, the last thing you’ll want to do is get caught in a torrential downpour with no form of protection.

Never leave home without a pair of your sexiest shades.
