The SoulTrain.com team was thrilled to learn over the weekend that Soul Train creator, visionary, and media pioneer Don Cornelius was inducted into the Illinois Broadcasters Hall of Fame on Friday, August 17, 2012. At the induction ceremony held in Chicago, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to celebrate Cornelius’ posthumous induction. The Chi-Lites, who performed on the very first Chicago edition of Soul Train, were on hand to honor this former radio disc jockey whose love of music and culture led to what would become one of the most iconic programs in TV history.
The Illinois Broadcasters Hall of Fame includes media luminaries such as Paul Harvey, Mike Wallace, Tom Joyner, and Oprah Winfrey.
The entire Soul Train family celebrates Don Cornelius’ most deserving induction!
