Congratulations to all of the nominees. I am a long time Soul Train supporter but I must say that I am gravely dissappointed that R. Kelly has only been nominated once. It is bad enough he was snubbed last year after giving a show-stopping, legendary performance, but after releasing a modern classic album like Love Letter makes me question the intent of the new Soul Train awards. Are we now giving awards based on popularity or the quality of music? No doubt Chris Brown has had a great come-back year, but let’s not drop the ball again this year and deny one of our living musical legends/geniuses his just due.

    To Whom It May Concern,

Hello Soul Train Awards. I’ll get right to it. The only reason I can think of R. Kelly not receiving a nomination for best R&B album for Love Letter is industry politics or a popularity contest. I understand Kelly has been around for 2 decades but that should not discount the phenominal year he’s had. Especially giving his amazing performance, Soul Train ’10, that shut down every other act after his. With less than half the marketing others in that category has received, he is still selling thousands of units after almost a year being released because consumers have realized they slept on a great, classic album. I’m sorry but though Trey Songz has been hot his album most definitely should not be up for nomination & not a Love Letter type. Consumers & fans of music should have their say so please give this more consideration.
