Ego is suicide.
Don’t believe your own hype–your ego is as fake as Santa Claus. In R&B singer Beyoncé’s “Ego” remix, Kanye West states that his ego is his imaginary friend. Mr. West is admittedly suggests that his ego is an illusion. The ego is an unauthentic inflated feeling of pride in our superiority to others.
Ego made Kanye West interrupt Taylor Swift’s video of the year acceptance speech last year at MTV’s Video Music Awards. Where the ego resides, nothing else lives. It occupies all space and doesn’t pay rent, but it certainly will cost you. Despite these cold facts, most of us hold on dear to our egos as if we owe it something. We depend on our egos to stand in for us and take the credit for all that is good about us. Some go as far as allowing their ego to speak for them, think for them, and live on their behalf.
The ego is prideful and allows us to believe that we are something we are not. It gives us the audacity to alter reality and disregard our responsibilities. Ego makes us think we are kings and Pharaohs when we’re just musicians. Ego can turn the Twitter profile of a regular Joe into a self-proclaimed celebrity. It allows us to dream without falling asleep. Ego says we can be whatever we say we are because it has no vision so it sees no reality.
You can’t buy “cool” and you can’t purchase “important” but people are still paying for VIP. Our ego is our avatar. We’re no longer comfortable in our skin so we allow it to stand in our place and dictate our behavior. What is your ego saying?
Gentlemen, this is for you: Cool costs nothing, so why are you buying rims, chains, champagne and sushi to get it? Pride will poison your thoughts and ego will eat your intellect. Live beyond your ego or fail to exist. “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” –James 4:6.
Ladies, this is for you: Beyoncé was right–it’s too big; it’s too wide; it’s too strong; it wont fit; it’s too much; it’s too tough. Stroking our big ego is a strikeout for us both. The more you stroke, the more you choke. There’s not enough room in a relationship for you, him and his ego. Ego-free is sexy.
Ego separates me from you, us from them and you from God. I would much rather have a humble heart than a big ego. But who am I to talk? I’m a bestselling author with thousands of followers.
Pleasantries.
