Train Stop Tuesday: The Jackson 5 performs “Dancing Machine”

Songs by the Jackson 5 stir up an array of memories for anyone who’s had the privilege of hearing them. Decades later, their sound–the lyrics, grooves and instrumentation, are all just as exciting and funky as the first time they were played. It’s as if they dare you not to get down and boogie.
And speaking of dance moves, The Robot was always popular with the Soul Train dancers, but a young Michael Jackson took it to the next level. Check out his quick, pop-locking moves, the foot-work and the robotic glare on his face–he was committed. It’s interesting to know that years later his choreography would still be influenced by the locking style popularized on Soul Train.
