Asha the Intern: In ATL with Lloyd and Sammie

posted in Lifestyle, Videos at

I recently went to Atlanta to spend some time with Mr. Get It Shawty, Lloyd. The opportunity was delivered by Heather, friend and talent agent of V-Log. While I was there, I explored Spelman College, where Lloyd was scheduled to bless the stage. (V-Log super producer Dana is a Spelman alumna, by the way!) It’s a beautiful campus, filled with stylish and intelligent young women—it reminded me of my own alma mater, Howard University.

But back to Lloyd… I have to admit, I knew he was an attractive singer with true talent, but when I saw him in person I completely understood why the Spelman girls chased him (and me, after all, I’m sure they recognized me). They were running and screaming at the top of their lungs; it was a total frenzy.

In the green room, Lloyd and I joked around and had a great conversation about President Obama—yes, the man is an intellectual thinker—and just had an overall good time. He’s a veteran performer and I watched him slip into “the zone” before the show. By the time the cameras started rolling for our interview, he transformed from his normal, life of the party-self, to this subdued, suave master of the stage.

He gave an amazing show, and afterward we went to a recording studio in Buckhead with Atlanta’s R&B prince, Sammie. We watched him record until the wee hours of the morning. I also had a chance to chat with Sammie and scored some raw studio footage that you guys will love.

Like I said previously, it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
